I joined Prestbury in 2013 as a Newly Qualified Teacher after completing my Early Years PGCE at Edge Hill University and have been Nursery Teacher ever since. I have always wanted to work in Early Years and started my journey to this career path by completing a BA Honours in Early Childhood Studies with Practitioner Options, gaining Early Years Professional Status with Manchester Metropolitan University and working in the PVI sector across the 0-5 age range.
The additional responsibilities I have at Prestbury are DT Subject Coordinator, Designated Teacher for Looked-After Children, and joint PPG Lead. For the last 3 years I have also been SENCo and I have been working towards gaining my NASENCO award with MMU. Whist I am taking a break from this role for the moment, when I reflect, it was an honour to support children and their families when they needed it the most.
I enjoy working at Prestbury so much that I commute daily from my home on the Wirral Peninsula which has the benefit of providing me with ample car karaoke time!
I feel incredibly lucky to have a job that I love and it excites me that each day is different. Working with the youngest children in school, whose parents entrust their care to me, is a huge privilege and I find it to be such a rewarding opportunity to experience and share each child’s unique achievements, no matter how small.
It is well known that I support Liverpool FC and the Nursery children love to show me when they are wearing their favourite football kit, even if we don’t always agree on club choices! Outside of school, I enjoy walks on the nearby beaches, day trips to Wales and spending time with my family and friends.
