Rachel Wallace

I joined Prestbury CE Primary School in January 2013 as Early Years Leader and Reception teacher and I now job share with Mrs Horsfall. Early Years is my passion. I graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University after completing my BA (Hons) Early Childhood Education degree and I have been fortunate to have worked in a range of schools in Leeds, Manchester and Cheshire East. I also had the opportunity to travel to Thailand to teach; teaching children affected by the Tsunami in 2004.

My eldest child recently started school and my youngest is not far off starting (eekk!) This milestone for me and my family has afforded me a new perspective on the Early Years education and has cemented my belief that every child should have access to high quality, practical learning experiences that inspire and nurture them to achieve their full potential.

At home, my family and I love being in the garden. We enjoy seeing our friends and family, going to the beach and out for long walks. Nevertheless, amongst all the busyness of that and between clubs and day to day life, we love most of all our weekends together and movie nights.

It is my privilege to work here at Prestbury – having the opportunity to work with the children, staff team and the local community continues to fulfil my childhood aspirations of becoming a teacher. No two days are the same and that is what is so special about working in Early Years. Every child is unique and I am so grateful I get to be part of your child’s exciting start in their learning journey here at Prestbury.
